Description

Mallecina, like a scenic balcony overlooking the beautiful Salas Valley 511m above sea level, is a completely authentic vaqueiros or cattle-drovers village located between the town of Salas (7 miles) and Pravia (11 miles) and has a population of just 50 people. Here we find these four smartly restored homes offering a truly authentic rural experience with all of the comforts of modern living. Featuring stone, tile and chestnut floors and ceilings. Each of the centrally heated homes has two floors, on the ground level a spacious, fully equipped kitchenette (cooker, fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and coffee maker) and an open plan dining/living room with sofas and TV. On the second floor a fully fitted bathroom and in Houses A, B, C, two bedrooms and House D, one bedroom, all bright and spacious. One of the homes (House A) has an old water well incorporated into the living room. Each home has access to a large shared garden area with barbecue. A hike of 3 miles to the Aguión peak provides spectacular coastal views from Galicia to Gijon in Asturias. The Narcea River 7 miles away is prime trout and salmon fishing ground and the nearby woodlands are home to many animals including wild boar, deer and fox. Nearest beach is 17 miles and Restaurant Casa Manolo with a good bar is half a mile away.

Additional information

The geography of Asturias appears to be a geological explosion towards the sky. Above all, it is a vertical land of imposing mountains such as thePicos de Europa, where rivers flowing towards the sea have chiselled deep ravines and beautiful river valleys. And then there is more than 190 miles of irregular coastline offering a succession of about 100 beaches, protected fishing harbours and navigable estuaries.

The main tourist routes in Asturias are the roads, which cross the land from the sea through the mountains passes, each road more picturesque than the one before. Southern Asturias is separated from Castilla y Leon by the Cordillera Cantabrica mountain barrier. Eastern Asturias is known for its proximity to the sea and the mountains. In fact the stunning Picos de Europa Mountains are only 12 miles from the coast.
