During the 1500´s the emperor Carlos V, his wife Isabel of Portugal and their son Felipe II lived in this fine 16th century palace which was the property of Gomez Davila; the Marques of Velada.
Now tastefully converted into a 4 star hotel, it is situated in the historical centre of Avila in front of the cathedral where it retains a magnificent renaissance porch and interior patio with a clear glass ceiling. The décor throughout is both comfortable and refined and in the spacious lounges we find fine examples of Mudejar carved ceilings.
The hotel features 146 bedrooms equipped with ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, central heating, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, minibar and safe. Additional facilities include limited guest parking (40 spaces), bar, café and a fine restaurant.
The staff of this hotel take great pride in providing a high level of customer service.
Avila is a charming medieval city with many points of interest for the traveller and a good starting point from which to begin ones tour of Castilla y Leon.
Awarded Heritage of Mankind status by UNESCO, Avila is also one of the highest cities above sea level in Spain. The centre is encircled by an astonishingly well preserved 11th century medieval wall best viewed from Los Cuatro Postes. The Cathedral and San Vicente Church are also two fine monuments worth exploring.
