Description

This is a charming 25 bedroom San Sebastian hotel located in a renovated 19th century villa which has been declared a historical listed building. The hotel is located on Avenida de Ategorrieta, a tree-lined avenue featuring other stately homes.

Within a short walking distance of the hotel is the Zurriola Beach and the world renowned, three-star Michelin restaurant “Arzak”. Other highly regarded restaurants that make up San Sebastian's magnificent gastronomic experience are only minutes away by car, as it the Old Quarter.

Ideal for the discerning traveller, the hotel offers a harmonious balance between the warmth and familiar atmosphere of a century-old home and the comfort and services of a luxury hotel.

The villa features 15 magnificent bedrooms while the other 10 rooms are located in the former red-bricked carriage house. Each bedroom in the hotel is different. Refined details, plush fabrics, precious woods and natural light are some of the characteristics of the bedrooms, all of which have been decorated with art from local artists such as Jorge Oteiza, among others. All bedrooms are equipped with separate bath and shower, hair dryer, safe, individually controlled air conditioning, television featuring the main international channels and internet connection. A complimentary mini-bar service with water, soft drinks and juices is also provided.

The main living room is very pleasant both in the winter with its cosy fireplace and in the summer, awash with sunlight. The original hardwood floors, the large and comfortable sofas and the antique furniture, invite one to read, relax or enjoy a leisurely conversation with family and friends.

The bar, featuring original 19th century oak wood paneling, and adjacent living room are perfect for enjoying an afternoon tea or a cocktail. The "serre" or winter garden has been converted into a warm and bright dining area where a delicious breakfast is served daily. Breakfast may be taken in your room too if you prefer.

Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, the concierge will be happy to recommend good local restaurants. Not a problem in Sebastian, being without doubt one of the world's gastronomic capitals.

Additional services and facilities include a garden specially designed by the French landscape designer Ducasse in 1898, a very professional, multilingual team permanently at your service, internet station located on the ground floor available for the exclusive use of guests, room service consisting of a small menu of exquisite dishes which reflect the gastronomic heritage of San Sebastian, laundry and ironing service and limited free private parking,

San Sebastian, at one time the summer residence of Spanish Royalty, is an elegant city with a long tradition of quality, up-market tourism. Recognised as one of the best places to live in Spain, its main feature is undoubtedly the stunning Bahia de la Concha (La Concha Bay); sheltered on one side by Mount Urgull and on the other by Mount Igueldo, the summit of which can be accessed by road or by a charming old tram. In the centre of the bay sits Santa Clara Island, like “the Pearl of the Cantabrian Sea” as it is often referred to as. The city is blessed with three fine beaches: La Concha, Ondarreta and La Zurriola.

The Parte Vieja, situated next to the fishing port, is the old walled town where you can appreciate outstanding architecture and discover the excellent bars and first class restaurants which offer, without doubt, the finest cuisine in Spain.  San Sebastian has one of the highest concentrations of Michelin star restaurants in the world.

In the Parte Vieja you´ll also discover the lively Brecha Market with it´s variety of colourful stalls, the San Telmo Museum and the Plaza de la Constitution, where bull fights were once regularly held and where you can still see the place numbers above all the balconies.

The Boulevard is the dividing line between the Parte Vieja and Cortazar (the modern San Sebastian).  This lovely, tree-lined avenue of cafes, bars and restaurants features, an Art Nouveau bandstand; built by the engineer Eiffel, at one end and the historical Victoria Eugenia Theatre at the other.

In the newer part of the city we also find monuments and buildings of high architectural and historical value, such as the new Kursaal Auditorium and Conference Centre; designed by the prestigious architect Rafael Moneo and the train station which was also designed by Eiffel.

San Sebastian has a great deal to offer in terms of shopping, quality hotels and restaurants, lively night-life and an attractive and comprehensive cultural diary. This includes the internationally renowned Jazz Festival (July), Semana Grande (August) and the International Film Festival (September).

VISITS NEARBY

San Sebastian is also an ideal base from which to explore the Basque Coast as well as the mountainous interior of the Basque Country. The Route to the Three Temples is a particularly scenic route featuring the Sanctuary of Loiola, the Hermitage of Nuestra Senora de La Antigua in Zumarraga and the Sanctuary of Nuestra Senora de Arantzazu in Onati. All three buildings are well worth a visit, each an example of different architectural styles, and each located in spectacular surroundings.

In Hernani, the Chillida Leku Museum dedicated to the Basque artist Edurado Chillida is especially nice to visit being set in a typical Basque farmhouse and surrounded by scenic parkland

Pamplona (running of the bulls) and the province of Navarra can also easily be explored from San Sebastian. As can the French coastal towns of San Jean de Luz and Biarritz.
