This superior 4 star Madrid Hotel is built on the site of a former palace and residence of the Count of Burgallal (1904). The hotel was completely renovated in 2004 and is now easily one of the best in it´s category in Madrid.
Located in the heart of the Madrid, right on Neptune Square and close to the three main museums (the Prado Museum, the Thysen Bornemizsa Museum and the Reina Sofia Art Centre). This part of the city is famous for its elegant avenues and its monumental and spectacular cultural surroundings. Being based here gives you easy access to all the city’s main sights as well as the fashionable Barrio Salamanca, which is only a short distance, and the Calle de las Huertas area with it’s authentic bars and varied restaurants.
The hotel’s design is a tasteful combination of classical and modern styles. You really feel comfortable here especially when you arrive back to your room after a long day in the city only to discover the covers turned down and your slippers and the newspaper waiting for you. There are also several other pleasant surprises which we don’t wish to spoil but which we found both original and thoughtful.
The hotel has 114 rooms including 67 Executives, 42 Luxury, 4 Junior Suites and 1 Royal Suite. All bedrooms have a private, marble bathroom with first class fittings including a large walk-in shower with downpour shower heads and a good selection of toiletries is provided too. Rooms feature handmade carpets, Bang & Olufsen LCD Flat Screen interactive TV with Internet available, electronic curtains, interior wardrobe lighting, hairdryer, mini-bar, large safe, air conditioning and central heating. Non-smoking rooms are available, as are Orthopaedic beds upon request
Additional facilities include a Restaurant-Brasserie, bar, private parking (not on-site but porter will gladly park your car for you), good buffet breakfast which features a menu of varied egg dishes which will be prepared freshly for you and a lounge area with English newspapers.
The hotel staff are very helpful and can assist with tickets for bullfights, shows, etc.
Atocha train station is only 2 minutes by taxi, which is handy if you are taking the AVE train or you are planning to do some day trips by train. We highly recommend this hotel.
Madrid stands at the very centre of Spain – geographically, culturally and politically. The capital of Spain, it not only offers the culture and good times of a sophisticated, modern city but it also retains the charm and elegance of its early years.
Among the splendid attractions to be found in Madrid are the Prado Museum; home to masterworks of Goya, Velazquez and El Greco: the 19th century Villahermosa Palace now the Thyssen-Bornemizsa Museum; the Reina Sofia Art Centre showcasing more than 300 modern works by Dali, Miro & Picasso among others; the 18th century Royal Palace, situated on the lovely Plaza de Oriente; the bustling Puerta del Sol with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars; Rastro Market on Sundays one of the oldest outdoor markets in Europe; and Retiro Park for strolling while admiring local artists and buskers. The Barrio Salamanca is Madrid´s most fashionable district where the finest designer labels can be found.
