This is a unique hotel that combines the charming spirit of a rural hotel with the comfort and sophistication of a luxury hotel.
The property is situated 2 kilometers away from Getaria, a small fishing village of the Basque coast, located 20 kilometers from San Sebastian and 60 kilometers from Bilbao.
The hotel offers 6 double rooms and 2 suites, decorated by designer Daniel Rotaeche. Each room has been decorated with different styles, fabrics and furniture, escaping from monotony and creating a warm and sophisticated environment.
The hotel offers a stunning swimming pool, built on the ruins of the original farmhouse.
Surrounded by vineyards with breathtaking views of the Getaria lighthouse, known as “Raton de Getaria”, and the Basque coast, the hotel offers guests a space full of peace and tranquillity in the middle of the nature.
Is a very special place to rest, relax and enjoy the silence.
Getaria is located on the coast of Guipuzcoa. It is a gorgeous fishing town, and the birthplace of distinguished figures, such as Juan Sebastián Elcano and Cristóbal Balenciaga.
Getaria is located 30 kilometres west of San Sebastián. During the Middle Ages, and later also, when harpoons were still thrown by hand, the people from this village were whale hunters, as the local coat of arms (a whale with a harpoon stuck on its back) depicts. A walk through this village is a very attractive choice, taking us by medieval houses, the port, and the boulevard that leads to the hermitage of San Antón. Another place of great cultural interest is the Gothic church of San Salvador, built in the 15th century. It has great historic relevance, since it was there where they held the 1397 General Assembly that declared Guipuzcoa a province.
The port of Getaria has the ideal infrastructure to be both a fishing port and a marina. "The Getaria mouse" is a small peninsula that ends at mount San Antón, which received this name because of the peculiar shape it is in. The town is connected to this "mouse" through a dock, which is really the fishing port's wharf. A narrow road leads up to the top of mount San Antón, which offers a magnificent view of the sea and the mountains.
However, if anything, Getaria is known for its Txakolí (a Basque wine) of unbeatable quality, which gave rise to the Designation of Origin-Getariako Txakolina.
Zarautz, a lovely historic seaside town is situated on a plain in the province of Gipuzkoa; just 16 miles west of San Sebastian. Its long beach of fine sand and promenade is one of its main attractions; inviting the visitor to take a relaxing stroll. Noteworthy monuments in Zarautz include the Narros Palace, the Casa Torre de los Zarautz (manor house), the Parish Church of Santa María La Real and the Luzea Tower.
The town and its surroundings, being situated between the mountains and the sea, are ideal for walking (there are many lovely trails in the area), hiking and for other sports such as golf and all types of watersports. The nature of the waves in Zarautz makes it one of the prime venues for the world surfing championships held every September.
Near Zarautz is the Pagoeta National Park. This is a beautiful natural environment, which has a wealth of flora and fauna and it preserves interesting ethnographic features such as the old Agorregi Foundry and Mill; a working example of 18th century use of hydraulic power to run an ironworks and two mills. Near here too and worth visiting is the beautifully situated village of Aia; a lovely example of a traditional Basque village with a pelota court (Basque Handball) just off the main plaza. In Zarautz itself is the Photographic Museum which explores the history of photography from three different view points: technical development, photography as social communication and photography as art.
Zarautz is near to several delightful coastal towns - Getaria, Orio, Zumaia - which are a pleasure to visit. In Zumaia, which has two fine beaches and an excellent seawater spa, you find the Zuloaga Museum; housed in what used to be an inn on the Santiago pilgrim trail. Here there are diverse collections ranging from ancient to 20th C pieces as well as many examples of the Basque artist, Zuloaga´s, own work. You can see pieces which illustrate the transition from the Gothic to the Renaissance; both Spanish and Flemish, works by El Greco, Zurbarán, Goya and Vicente López, Spanish romantic paintings, Renaissance sculptures, Baroque nativity scenes, bronzes by Rodin as well as important damascenes from Eibar made in Plácido Zuloaga''s workshop.
One other thing which Zarautz is particularly famous for is the production of txakoli; a delicious young white wine, an ideal accompaniment to the area''s exquisite cuisine. Especially the fish and seafood.
