This excursion can be arranged on any day from Monday to Saturday except public holidays. Depart from Seville at 09:30 in the morning and arrive back at between 17:30 and 18:00.
Prices are based on the number of people travelling and are inclusive of English speaking chauffeur/guide, transportation, food and drink.
On this unique excursion you will be picked up from your hotel in Seville and travel to the Sierra of Aracena in the province of Huelva, a mountainous area 90 kilometres (56 miles) north-west of Seville. It is here that the cherished Iberian pigs, who produce the finest hams in the world, are reared. These hams are cured in the mountain air for up to 3 years and are considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of Spanish gastronomy.
Accompanied by our friendly English speaking chauffeur/guide, you will first visit a typical Andalusian farm to see how the pigs are reared. You will then see the installations of one of the best ham producers in the village of Jabugo, a synonym in Spain for quality ham. An expert guide will explain the processes involved in the production of ham and of other delicious products which come from the Iberian pig. During the visit you will sample the wonderful ham accompanied by a glass of the best fino.
Afterwards, you will head to the charming town of Aracena and enjoy a specially prepared gourmet lunch at one of the best restaurants in town. Lunch will consist of the finest local produce, including cheese, ham, mushrooms, pork from the Iberian pig, wild asparagus, artichokes and other fresh, seasonal produce. Lunch will be accompanied by a suitable Spanish red wine and end with a tasty local dessert. With your appetite well and truly satisfied, you will have time for a stroll in Aracena before being driven back to your hotel in Seville.
