HIGHLIGHTS: Leon is a city of incomparable beauty, closely linked to the Camino de Santiago (the Way of Saint James, a pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela). It offers a variety of interesting sights, including the Santa Maria Cathedral with it´s remarkable stained glass windows, San Isidoro Basilica and the Hostal de San Marcos itself, now the Parador at which you will stay. The palace of the Guzman family, Botines House designed by Antoni Gaudi, San Marcelo Church, Santa Ana Church, the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), and Roman walls are just a sample of the important sights to be discovered in Leon.
HIGHLIGHTS: In Monforte you can explore the Museum of the Clarisas (nuns of the Order of Saint Clare), the castle keep and Escolapios School. Wine also plays a starring role in these lands, with wineries bearing the Ribiera Sacra denominacion de origen. Nor should we forget the Romanesque Route in Ferreira de Panton and for activity lover´s, a catamaran ride through the Canyons of the Sil River.
HIGHLIGHTS: Near Vilalba, highlights include the natural areas along the Magdalena and Ladra rivers and the Alligal Medicinal Pool (Charca Medicinal), which has thermal waters. We also recommend visiting the Museum of Prehistory and Archeology, Cospeito (10 km.), Lagunas de Valverde (10 km.), and Mondonedo (25 km.), as well as the cathedral and Diocesan Museum.
HIGHLIGHTS: Galicia opens its doors to you through this seaside town, where you can visit the Magdalena Quarter and the area around the navy yard. The nearby city of A Coruna has a variety of interesting sites, such as the Lighthouse of Hercules, San Anton Archeological Museum, San Carlos Garden, and the baroque Dominican church. Beaches and nearby natural sites offer as a variety of interesting options. Those interested in the history of Spain will be interested to know that Ferrol is where General Franco was born.
HIGHLIGHTS: Santiago is a World Heritage City, and offers travellers any number of sites to visit: Obradoiro Square with its beautiful cathedral, the university’s square, the ruas along which you can stroll and experience the life of the city’s inhabitants, palaces and churches, and museums such as the cathedral museum, Museum of the Galician People, or the Galician Center for Contemporary Art. You cannot help but be seduced by this city and the Parador hotel is one of the finest hotels in the world. In fact, it is said that it is one of the first hotels in the world.
