I 1000% recommend Totally Spain for planning and coordinating your vacation to Spain/Portugal.

I had learned from our trip to Peru several years prior that working with a travel agency who is local to the region you’re visiting is hugely beneficial, as they carried such a wealth of knowledge of that area.

At Totally Spain, I worked with Belen to design our 2-week trip to Spain and Portugal. Using the recommended tours on their website, Belen and I worked together to fine tune the details, make modifications, select hotels, etc.

Belen was meticulous in taking my ideas and building them into my ideal itinerary.

A few weeks prior to our trip, I received a package with a printout of our detailed itinerary as well as loads of information for each area we were visiting (including recommended restaurants, suggestions of places to explore on our own, foods to try), and tickets for transportation/attractions, etc.

During our trip, there wasn’t a day that passed that I wasn’t beyond grateful we had planned our trip with Totally Spain.

From our airport/hotel transfers, the quality/location of our hotels, and the wonderful & super-knowledgeable guides, the entirety of our trip was truly amazing.

My husband and I returned home feeling like we really had experienced Spain & Portugal with the perfect blend of free time, educational and fun private tours, and a variety of experiences that allowed us to fully and deeply experience the regions we visited.

Travel has the potential to be stressful and anxiety-producing, but having mapped out all our transfers, accommodations, and tours with Totally Spain we had the luxury of just following our itinerary and enjoying each day as it unfolded.

For all our future travels, I’ll look for a travel agency who will plan and coordinate our vacation with the same care and meticulous attention to detail as Totally Spain!

The guides were not only professional, knowledgeable and very personable but passionate about their area.

We not only saw wonderful sites but got a deep understanding of Spain’s complex culture and history.

Being Jewish, our passion to see sources of our heritage including meeting a resident Sephardic Jeeish family whose roots go back to the pre- expulsion times and who are active members of their community, Thid is a once in a lifetime experience.

The hotels were great and very convenient for touring, exploring on our own and great local restaurants.

We were traveling with Totally Spain as a family of five, two parents and adult children, all of whom have traveled extensively so we're a somewhat critical audience.

For us, the travel adviser's itinerary is a beginning, not an end result. When we receive a proposed itinerary, we study it, research it, ask questions and typically request modifications.

We also have a variety of food allergies and constraints, so arranging food for us can be a challenge.

Our advisor, Belen Encinas, met that challenge with remarkable patience and skill and we had a two week marvelous trip traveling around Northern Spain.

The towns and visitor sites that she suggested we visit were all spot on for our likes and dislikes, as were the hotels, the tour guides that she arranged were exceptional - both highly knowledgeable and attentive to our needs - our food needs were thoughtfully met resulting in some marvelous, shared eating and wine drinking experiences, and on two occasions when circumstances caused us to ask for last minute changes, she somehow pulled them off wonderfully.

Our 15-day trip through Portugal and Spain, planned by Totally Spain, was outstanding. The hotels they selected were all in prime locations, making it easy to explore each city on foot.

We visited Lisbon, Porto, Seville, Madrid and Barcelona, and every day included a knowledgeable, private guide with ample time to explore on our own also.

The itinerary also included wonderful day trips to Sintra, Cascais, the Douro Valley, Toledo and Monserrat.

We loved that each major stop included both a food tour and a walking tour. All tickets, train travel, and logistics were handled seamlessly, and we didn’t have to worry about anything.

We went from Madrid, Toledo, Sevilla, Cordoba, Ronda, Grenada and Barcelona.

The tour guides were great and we learned so much on our walking tours with them. The drivers were always on time and very accommodating.

Belen laid out our itinerary that was extremely detailed, with pictures of meeting points and prepaid tickets, restaurant recommendations, along with phone numbers of everyone involved.

She made this a very stress free trip!

Belen and her team created a thoughtful, well-organized itinerary that was beautifully aligned with my goals for my month-long trip to Spain.

They anticipated the obstacles, handled the preparation with outstanding care, and made what could have been a very complicated trip feel smooth and manageable.

My agenda was incredibly detailed, with pictures, clear directions, and helpful guidance that made traveling through 12 cities much easier than it would have been on my own.

I had to reach out a few times for assistance during the trip, and each time they responded quickly, calmly, and effectively, helping me resolve every issue successfully.

I originally planned to organize the trip myself, but that would have been a huge mistake. Belen’s insight and recommendations added so much value.

For example, I probably would not have included the hotel breakfasts, but they ended up being a highlight of my trip and gave me a consistent, grounding routine in the middle of so much travel.

"Totally Spain was top notch – from start to finish – every detail was organized and surprised us with such great service. From the guides, to the meet and greet people, airport rides, train pick-up – you name it… it was covered.

Can't say enough about Belen and her attention to detail. Professionalism at its best.

We started by driving to Praia del Rey and playing golf on a wonderful course along the coast. Stayed at a beautiful hotel with a spa and pools.

Then we drove to Gaia, dropped off the car and went to Porto. On the way we stopped in Coimbra – saw the oldest library at the University.
Jose, in Coimbra, was amazing – his historical knowledge was above and beyond. He even took us to one of his favourite eating spots.
Rafaella from Porto gave us an up-close historical visit, including lunch at her favourite local place.
Claudia helped us eat our way around Porto – her knowledge as a local was wonderful.

Nelson took us on an amazing adventure in the Douro Valley – sights I'd never seen and Ports beyond belief. The winery was one of the best, and lunch was fantastic, along with the incredible views.

Our train ride from Porto to Lisbon was easy and beautiful. Met at the airport and taken to our beautiful hotel in a great location.
John, the guide, was amazing – the ultimate historian – we were glued to his every word and he made history so fun.

Drivers were so good – Andrea and Vera – top notch and also fun.
Pedro took us through Lisbon eating and drinking the finest, in tucked-away places you’d never find without him.

And then, the grand finale to Sintra and Cascais! John, again, proved himself the ultimate guide – so fun and interesting.
To top it off – the best meal we had, at his favourite spot on the coast – the fresh fish was beyond the pale.
Hotel was beautiful and the drive to the airport went above and beyond normal duties.

Portugal was just one big wonderful surprise – loved every minute.

Also from front to back, it wouldn't have been this way if it weren't for the effort of Belen from Totally Spain – she was remarkable, professional, and communicated whenever we needed her – simply put… one of the best I’ve ever had.

Carol and Gary’s 11-night journey through Portugal was a refined and carefully paced exploration of history, gastronomy, and cultural charm. Beginning in the medieval town of Óbidos with a stay in its historic castle-turned-pousada, they continued to Coimbra for two nights, with a guided tour including the Baroque Joanina Library.

They then travelled north by first-class train to Porto for four nights—enjoying a culinary walking tour, a guided visit of the historic centre, a traditional Fado performance, and full-day excursions to Braga, Guimarães, and the Douro Valley, complete with a winery visit, tasting, and private river cruise.

The final four nights were spent in Lisbon’s atmospheric Alfama district. Their time in the capital included a guided walk through Baixa and Chiado, a half-day gastronomic tour, and full-day excursions to Sintra (with entrance to Pena Palace), Cascais, Évora, and Monsaraz. We were extremely happy with the custom tours provided by Totally Spain. We had a group tour to Portugal for 8 days, then a tour of Southern Spain with just my husband and myself for 8 days. They planned everything for the whole trip including transfers, hotels and walking tours. All of the guides were outstanding and the hotels were great 4 star hotels. All of the transfers were on time and very professional. What I was most impressed with was the amount of detail that Totally Spain provided. We were in a total of 8 locations in two countries and for each one they provided a packet of information about the city and the area, maps that were marked with our hotel and significant sites, plus other information that might be useful. The entrance fees to all the sites were included in the tour so the guides were able to get us to the front of the line, so we didn't waste time. I would highly encourage you to use their services, I only wish they did trips to other countries!
