Walking the Camino de Santiago or part of the Camino de Santiago can be life changing for some people.  In Spain, there are many `caminos´ depending on which part of Spain your journey originates.  The two better known routes are the French Route (Camino Frances) and the Northern Route (Camino del Norte) .  The French Route begins in Roncesvalles in the north of the province of Navarra.  Those who decide to commence their walk in France will usually set off for Roncesvalles from St Jean de Pied de Port, 26kms away.  The French Route to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia is 934 kms and passes through Navarra, Rioja, Castilla y Leon and finally Galicia.  Along this popular route are many important UNESCO World Heritage sites, splendid cities such as Pamplona, Burgos and Leon and of course the Rioja wine region.

The Camino del Norte begins in Irun in the Basque Country and continues along the north Spanish coast for 869 kms through the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and finally Galicia to finish in Santiago de Compostela.  Along this route you encounter splendid coastal scenery as well as mountains, valleys and woodlands - Green Spain in all of it's glory. Not forgetting either wonderful coastal cities such as San Sebastian, Bilbao, Santander and Gijon.

You only need to let your Totally Spain agent know and we can work in to your itinerary walking or travelling along the Camino de Santiago, as part of your very own custom private tour in Spain.
