Description and location

The Parador de Monterrei is situated in an important historical location considered to be the largest acropolis in the northwest Spanish province of Galicia.  In the past the property was a defensive site, a pilgrim hospital and had many other uses too.  As a guest you feel all this in the atmosphere of the hotel which captures the very essence of the Paradores experience.

The Parador's architectural design makes it possible for guests to lodge either in the former Palacio de los Condes (Count's Palace) or the Casa Rectoral (Parsonage), both of which are within the walled site of the Monterreal Fortress, 2 km from Verin.  The surroundings include the 13th-century Santa María de Gracia Church and the Watchtower, of which sections of the walls have been preserved.
