Parador de Jaen

Description and location

The privileged location of the Parador de Jaen Andalusia a remarkable 13th century Arab Fortress built on top of the steep Santa Catalina Hill, affords guests stunning views over Jaen town and the surrounding hilly countryside where nearly two thirds of the land is covered in olive trees.

The monumental appearance is maintained on the interior where numerous high stone arches form the main living room and the dining room.  Here there are also tall windows covered with impressive wooden lattice shutters which allow rays of light to penetrate and warm the cosy lounge area where sturdy rustic furnishings and cosy granite fireplaces complete the ensemble.  There are also marked Arabic features found throughout the rest of this incredible Andalusian Parador.

The Parador de Jaen also offers guests a refreshing swimming pool which is protected by high stone walls that provide much appreciated protection in summer from the hot Andalusian sun.

The comfortable ensuite bedrooms are spacious and offer magnificent panoramic views.  The superior rooms are especially nice as they have a private terrace ideal for sitting out on.

In the Parador de Jaen´s restaurant enjoy a varied gastronomic display including local Andalusian dishes such as 'ajo blanco' (garlic and almond soup), partridge salad, pipirrana (a tasty local salad) and Jaen-style spinach (with egg).
