Description and location

Constructed on the site of Lorca Castle and with terrific views, the Parador de Lorca offers guests the best of both worlds.  First, the archaeological site situated under the hotel and completely integrated into the building.  And secondly, the magnificent new designer hotel with facilities including a free indoor swimming pool and modern spa.

Historical features that remain include a 15th-century synagogue, a Muslim cistern, Almohad walls and castle citadel known as the Fortaleza del Sol (Fortress of the Sun), which has been adapted as a themed cultural and entertainment space with exhibitions, living history reenactments, workshops, children's areas, and more.

Guest rooms feature warm lighting and tasteful décor. All include free Wi-Fi, a minibar, safe, plasma satellite TV, a private bathroom and, scenic views.

Buffet breakfast is served daily and those dining in the Parador can enjoy traditional, regional cuisine and a good selection of fine wines. The hotel also has a bar and room service is available.

The Parador offers free parking and is 35 minutes’ drive from Águilas and its beaches.

Lorca, located at the foot of the Parador,  has many interesting sights: medieval walls, Christian towers, Jewish quarters, cisterns, synagogues, orange groves and vineyards. All this thanks to the legacy of the three civilizations that have lived here: Christian, Jewish and Muslim. You will find many façades bearing coats of arms, noble heraldry, palaces, churches and guildhalls. As you wander through Lorca, you will come to understand why it is known as the “City of One Hundred Blazons”.

Lorca's Holy Week celebrations are worth experiencing for their spectacular beauty. And the city's natural surroundings, with almost virgin coastal beaches, are the ideal place to relax.
