Madrid, Spain

Upon arrival at Madrid-Barajas Airport, your private driver will be waiting to transfer you directly to your centrally located hotel, where you’ll be staying for the next three nights.

Madrid, Spain’s elegant capital, sits at the very heart of the country—geographically, culturally, and politically. It’s a city of grand boulevards and leafy parks, of world-class museums and lively neighbourhoods. Among its many highlights: the Prado Museum, with iconic works by Velázquez, Goya, and El Greco; the refined Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, housed in a 19th-century palace; and the Reina Sofía Art Centre, home to Picasso’s Guernica and other modern masterpieces. You might also visit the Royal Palace, take in the atmosphere of Puerta del Sol, browse the stalls at the Sunday Rastro market, or enjoy a quiet stroll through the Retiro Park.

This first day is about settling in. Perhaps take a gentle walk in your neighbourhood—likely filled with inviting cafés, tapas bars, and local restaurants—and ease into the rhythm of Madrid at your own pace.

Throughout your stay, you'll have access to Totally Spain’s bespoke City Guides, filled with handpicked recommendations tailored to your interests and your hotel’s location. Madrid, Spain

After a full buffet breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be met by your expert local guide for a private walking tour through the heart of Madrid’s historic centre.

You’ll stroll along some of the city’s most iconic streets and squares, including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the charming Plaza de Santa Ana. You’ll also stop at the beautifully restored Mercado de San Miguel, one of Madrid’s most beloved gourmet markets—perfect for admiring local produce and soaking up the city's lively culinary culture.

The walk continues through the Plaza de la Villa, once the city’s medieval centre, and on to the elegant Plaza de Oriente, where you’ll visit the Royal Palace. Standing on the site of an old Moorish fortress, this grand residence was completed in 1764 and boasts 3,418 rooms—each reflecting the tastes of successive Spanish monarchs. Toledo, once the capital of Spain, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised for its remarkable heritage as a city where Christian, Muslim, and Jewish cultures flourished side by side for centuries. Its labyrinthine streets and hilltop position give way to architectural treasures at every turn—Gothic, Mudejar, Romanesque, Visigothic, and Renaissance styles coexisting in one compact, walkable city.

Your morning begins with a private transfer from your hotel to Madrid Atocha station. On arrival in Seville, your private driver will meet you at the platform and take you to your centrally located 4-star hotel.

Welcome to Seville, the spirited capital of Andalusia—a city of sunlit plazas, orange-scented streets, and the unmistakable rhythm of flamenco in the air. One of Europe’s sunniest cities, Seville’s architecture is a dazzling blend of Moorish, Mudejar, Renaissance, and Baroque styles, best appreciated as you wander its labyrinth of narrow streets and lively neighbourhoods. The city’s festive soul shines brightest during Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril, but at any time of year, Seville is a joy to explore at your own pace—rich in tradition, flavour, and charm.

After checking in, enjoy lunch near your hotel—a chance to taste some of Andalusia’s signature cuisine: fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and dishes elevated by the region’s exceptional olive oils. Not included.

Seville, Spain

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your expert local guide meets you at the hotel for a private walking tour of Barrio Santa Cruz, Seville’s historic former Jewish quarter. This maze of narrow lanes and shaded plazas is full of character and charm, revealing layers of the city’s complex past.

Visit the magnificent Seville Cathedral, completed in 1506 and built on the site of a former mosque. Its impressive architecture reflects a blend of Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles. Inside lies the tomb of Christopher Columbus, and the soaring vaulted ceilings, intricate altarpieces, and historic chapels are awe-inspiring. Don’t miss the Patio de los Naranjos—the tranquil Courtyard of the Orange Trees, a vestige of the mosque that once stood here, and a beautiful place for quiet reflection.

Next, visit the majestic Royal Alcázar, one of Europe’s oldest palaces still in use. A former Moorish fortress turned royal residence, it has hosted generations of monarchs, including Carlos V and Isabel of Portugal, who were married here in 1526. Its intricate tilework, richly adorned halls, and exquisite courtyards—particularly the Patio de las Doncellas and Patio del Yeso—make this one of Seville’s most iconic and beloved monuments.

The remainder of your day is free to relax, explore more of Seville’s vibrant barrios, or indulge in some tapas at your leisure.

Seville - Cordoba - Seville (Daytrip by High Speed Train), Spain

Following breakfast, board the high-speed train to Córdoba, famed for its beautifully preserved Jewish quarter and the awe-inspiring Mezquita—a mosque-cathedral unlike any other.

Upon arrival in Cordoba city centre, your private expert local guide will lead you on an afternoon exploration of this former Moorish capital of Al-Andalus. Strolling through the old Jewish quarter, you’ll feel transported back to the 10th century, as narrow streets and quaint patios remain much as they were centuries ago.

The highlight is a visit to the Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita), one of Andalusia’s most celebrated landmarks and among the largest mosques ever built in the Islamic world. Constructed between 786 and 788 by Abd ar-Rahman, it underwent numerous expansions before being consecrated as a cathedral in 1236 after the Christian conquest—a remarkable blend of religious architecture.

You will also see the Synagogue, built in 1314, a rare and exquisitely preserved example of Mudejar design, notable for being the only synagogue in Spain from that era to remain a Jewish place of worship. Nearby stands the Almodóvar Gate, locally known as the ‘Gate of the Jews,’ and a monument dedicated to the great Jewish philosopher and physician Maimonides.

After your guided tour, enjoy some free time to have lunch and explore independently. We recommend a stroll across the iconic Roman Bridge spanning the Guadalquivir River or a visit to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a 14th-century Mudejar palace with stunning gardens that once served as the seat of the Inquisition’s Tribunal. Don’t miss the charming courtyard patios scattered throughout the old town, a signature feature of Córdoba’s historic charm.

Later, return to Seville by high-speed train, arriving in the early evening.

Granada, Spain

After breakfast, meet your expert private guide at the Alhambra for a private tour of the world-famous Alhambra Palace and the adjoining Generalife Gardens.

Perched on the hill of La Sabika, overlooking the Darro Valley, the Alhambra is a sprawling palatial city built between the 13th and 15th centuries by the Nasrid Sultans. Enclosed by solid walls, it stands as a masterpiece of late Muslim architecture in Spain—a vibrant expression of artistic styles flourishing when much of Europe was still emerging from the Dark Ages.

The Alhambra complex comprises several distinct parts: the Arab Palaces, including the Comares Palace with its stunning Los Arrayanes Courtyard and the Hall of Ambassadors; the Palace of the Lions (Los Leones), famed for its intricately decorated courtyard and magnificent halls such as Las Dos Hermanas and Los Reyes, adorned with exquisite plasterwork and geometric mocarabe motifs; the military Alcazaba fortress; the fortified city or Medina; and the Generalife Gardens—the summer residence of the Sultans and one of the oldest surviving examples of Moorish gardens, renowned for its water features, fountains, and tranquil courtyards.

Water plays a central role here, creating a paradise-like atmosphere, and remnants of the Arab Baths still survive within the complex. The Alhambra also captivated the Christian Emperor Carlos V, who commissioned the construction of his Renaissance palace within the grounds, now home to the Alhambra and Fine Arts Museums.

Both the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, celebrated for their extraordinary artistic and historical significance.
