The spectacular beaches of Somo and Loredo are only a short walk through a magnificent pine forest and they afford superb views across the bay to Santander and the Magdalena Palace headland.

This afternoon you might like to just spend the day on the beach or we can suggest enjoying a beautiful coastal walk which commences in Loredo and continues by the rising coastline eastwards towards stunning Langre Beach. Views along the way are terrific and there are plenty of photo opportunities. From Langre those seeking a longer walk can continue via the coast to the beach and town of Galizano.

This afternoon could be spent enjoying the beach or practising your surfing skills. We can also recommend heading into Somo from where you can take the charming local foot passenger ferry across the bay to Santander. Upon arrival you can enjoy the atmosphere of the city or take a very picturesque walk along the promenade, around the gardens of the Magdelena Palace and on to the beaches of Sardinero. Later return to Somo by ferry.

This afternoon could be spent relaxing by the pool or on the beach. We can also recommend taking the family to the wonderful Cabarceno Park which is a vast award winning Wildlife Park approximately 20 minutes from your hotel. Due to it´s size visitors drive around the park stopping along the way to view and enjoy the animals. There are sea lion shows daily as well as birds of prey spectacles. Kids love viewing bears in this natural habitat. Enjoy the cable car too. A thoroughly enjoyable and educational way to spend the afternoon in beautiful surroundings. Take a picnic or enjoy one of the traditional restaurants by the park.

Enjoy the afternoon honing your surfing skills or we can highly recommend driving 15 minutes along the coast to the Trasmiera Ecopark which is part of EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) and is a cultural and environmental project by Arnuero county and is often referred to as ‘an open-air museum’.

The park, overlooked by lush forests and hills, is a wonderful showcase of what Arnuero county has to offer; great natural environment, cultural heritage and history. Visit the Iglesia de la Asuncion, which has now been converted into an exhibition center for local artists. Tour the incredible Santa Olaja tide mill, which still functions using the force of the tides to grind wheat. See the Cabrahigo Tower – a 15th century tower which represents an impressive example of gothic architecture and visit the stunning beaches in this area. You can also take advantage of the extensive network of cycle paths in this area and free bike hire (operates seasonally) available from the Isla/ Quejo tourism office.

Enjoy the afternoon honing your surfing skills and making the most of your last day in Loredo. We can also highly recommend going canoeing this afternoon in the nearby Cubas Estuary, setting off directly from Somo. A thoroughly enjoyable and different way to spend time on the water.
